Priti NYC Polish

Launched in 2005 by Kim D'amato.  She created a luxury eco-friendly nail polish to parallel her efforts to switch to organic foods and health products. Let's just say HORRAY since Priti NYC is pretty amazing - it's 5 free and vegan! Free of Toluene, Dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and camphor. It's quite fast drying and glossy.
From personal experience, some of the formulas are a tad streaky but with top coat it's dries super smooth and extra shiny.
Application was pretty good and there's no problems in coverage or staining from the ones I've tried. Oh and a plus is due to it being 5 free, it's not freaking overwhelmingly stinky! haha. Being a person who usually puts on polish right before bed, that is a big bonus for me not having to smell nail polish as I try to sleep!

They also have a line just for all the little princesses in our lives, non-toxic and super adorable! they come in 8ml and is $9 on their website. You can check out the line here.

Ps. ALOT if not all of Priti NYC's products are non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, cruelty-free and vegan. Take a look at their Soy Nail Polish Remover.
Also it brings a BIG smile to my face when I read that Priti NYC is very active with various charities and community events which support women issues and the environment.
If you want to know more information just click here. I just posted a bit of general information.

Before I begin, I would like to thank Priti NYC for this opportunity. The colours are just so amazing and it was a pleasant surprise to be getting these. They are SO ME and I just LOVE the colours. If you can't tell already I really like purple ;) hehe..

Also, this post is picture heavy hence the line break, why so many pictures you ask? because.. in different lighting the colour changes and they're all so nice I couldn't pick haha..

here we go!

Nail Art: Marble Dots

Hi Everyone,

something random today hehe.. I don't know what this is really so I called it marble dots!

Now I've always wanted to try marbling but I hate the clean up because usually when I am doing my nails, it's about 3 am in the morning :P.

I saw on ASK Cosmetic's Facebook page a blogger's photo of a ombre dotticure which used 2 shades of a colour (ie. navy and sky blue).
I picked up China Glaze - Aquadelic and American Apparel - Malibu Green. Ignoring the discolouration of AA they have a bigger difference in shade but my camera couldn't pick it up!

I thought that was neat so I wanted to attempt it!

Materials needed:

  • Base colour
  • Two colours you want to 'swirl' together any combination can be done!!!
  • Dotter tool
  • Scrap paper or art palette (anything to hold your polish droplets)

First I painted my base colour which is Essie - Blanc. Pretty much my go to white at the moment. Just look how amazing it looks in the picture underneath!

I did my usual droplets on paper but accidentally it was too close and they stuck together. Then the idea popped up... let's swirl it!!

So after swirling a bit, I redipped my dotter tool and made dots on the nails.. and viola.. marble nails!

I need to practice a bit more so the dots don't turn out like huge globs but how do you like them? :)

What other colours would you mix together?

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Nail Art (Roses)

After my nail art attempts in the other post - link here, I watched a video shown on Catrice's website on how to do a floral design. Then I thought why not use Sugar Coats to do '3D-ish' flowers??!

It was pretty fun but as a tip, after every "C" shape, redip your brush into the polish to pick up the 'sugar' particles or it won't be gritty enough!

Materials needed:
  • Base polish colour - I did 3 colours to show how the design would work on different colours
  • Sally Hansen Sugar Coat's Cherry Drop
  • Sally Hansen Sugar Coat's Cotton Candies
  • Sally Hansen Sugar Coat's Sweetie
  • Sally Hansen Sugar Coat's Sour Apple
  • Little dish with acetone / nail polish remover
  • Cotton Pad
  • Scrap Paper
  • Thin Paint Brush

Sally Hansen - Sugar Coat Collection Press Release

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Textured Nail Colour
Treat your nails to one of this year’s sweetest trends with Sugar Coat Textured Nail Colour from Sally Hansen. A multi-dimensional formula infused with a sugar-like texture for a 3-D volumized, colour-saturated nail look. Sally Hansen’s latest polish breakthrough leaves nails looking good enough to eat with a sweet sugar-dipped effect. Limited edition.

One of the new releases Sally Hansen has is a pretty exciting one!! Sugar Coats!! Which is similar to the ones OPI came out with called Liquid Sands, Nicole by OPI's Gumdrops, Zoya's Pixie Dusts etc etc!
I love liquid sands, at first I thought that the grit would bother me but it doesn't. After a few days of wear, the grit becomes finer also...so try it!! Don't be worried - and the best part it comes in a variety of colours :D

Sally Hansen Sugar Coats come in 8 creamy colours. These are very different from the ones I have tried - usually full of glitter and sparkle! Can't wait to try them!!

Onto the pictures: :)

Summer Dotticure

Hi Everyone,

Many apologies!!!! I am so backlogged at the moment and I am still quite busy with a situation! Don't miss me too much as I will be back regularly soon. Aside from the situation, Toronto had some heavy rains which lead to flooding in some parts and power outages in others. I was without power for a day and no internet for about 3, luckily my area was safe from flooding! Hope everyone was okay too =) Was anyone stuck on the GO and had to ride a boat out??

Anyway, today my post will be very lacking. Since I didn't bring my camera and my phone completely went haywire and died all weekend..ugh!!! I only have one picture of my manicure, since M&J (my friends) think I am obsessed and they shouldn't be fuelling my habit ahahah..
Confession: My phone contains MANY nail /nail art pictures.

The past weekend, I went camping and one of my friends told me to bring some polishes. So I grabbed a (coincidental) rainbow of colours + basic manicure tools there. At night, the 3 of us decided to do our nails. First we decided to do something plain since we were "roughing" it..
I picked Essie's Blanc (yes, this summer white is my go-to colour - I absolutely LOVE white polish)
M picked Essie's Rock the Boat + Essie's Butler Please as accent nails
J picked Quo By Orly's Hot Mess

M then suggested we do nail art, since I didn't have anything but a dotting tool with me.. I decided it would be fun to do a dotticure - it's easy and we can use a variety of colour.
I am going to leave ou M&J's combo since there's no pictures :P

Then my manicure - the one pictured here is...

First I did spaced out dots of Essie's Naughty Nautical & Essie's Butler Please.
Ps. Butler Please is not a good polish for dots, it's quite sheer and dries semi-matte.
We thought it was a bit plain so M suggested I add on Quo By Orly's Hot Mess. At first I was a bit skeptical but after I added it, I thought it was quite lovely and quite the punch of colour!

What do you think? Does this colour combo work??
What colour combos are you go-to for dotticures??
Can't wait to hear your responses :D

Chanel - Provocation & Big Universo - Espectral

I am in love with this polish!! I know, it's looks like a plain plum. But take a look at my pictures, in certain lights, it moves from a darkish plum to having a brown tinge. My friend described it as 'elegant looking even though it's plain' (yay I was super happy to hear that) and the quality surpasses anything I've tried!! I am SO in love.

Help me!! since Chanel is about $27 each!! eekk...
