Indie Spotlight: Sweet Tips Nails

Today I have another awesome Canadian Indie maker to share with you guys. Jen of Sweet Tips Nails (Etsy | Facebook) is a talented indie maker from Wellend, Ontario. Her Etsy shop offers a range of beauty products like nail polishes, lip balms, body butters and body sprays. In the future she will also be offering body scrubs, bath bombs, and bath salts.

A couple weeks back she had an awesome sale going on and I took that opportunity to purchase a couple polishes to try out. I'm so glad I did because I was very pleased with my order! The package was sent out in a timely manner and I received it within a week, Jen was also very generous and included a lip balm, a trial size body butter and candy in my package. Everything was packed with care and communication was excellent! Here are the polishes I will be reviewing today:

Her logo is so gosh darn cute!

Nabi Hologram Sky Blue and Black

Hello friends! A couple months ago I heard that Nabi was releasing a bunch of holographic nail polishes. I managed to pick up 2 recently and thought I'd share some swatches and thoughts about this collection. This holographic collection consists of 24 different shades, the 2 I'm sharing today are Black and Blue Sky.

When I first saw these polishes in store I was not at all impressed, there was no holo effect at all. In fact I thought they were all duds because they looked metallic to me. I bought 2 just to try and boy am I glad. On the nail they look completely different. The holo effect isn't strong but it's definitely present. I thought the colours were a little washed out. I wished the colour could've been brighter. My camera did a terrible job of really capturing the holo flame and in person they're stronger than in my pictures. I also thought the bottles looked like a total rip off of the Layla holos. Same shape, silver cap, same label design. I don't own any Layla polishes so I'm not able to do a side by side comparison.

Last month we had the wonderful opportunity to review the company Enospring and they were generous enough to send us some polishes from the 2012 and 2013 Halo Hues collection. Today I have three polishes from the 2013 collection to share with you all.

Let me first off say that if you don't own any polishes from the Halo Hues collection, I recommended you correct that ASAP! These beauties are absolutely stunning and I promise you that if you love holo polishes as much as I do, you will not be disappointed.

Urban Outfitters - Pink Holo

Sun there's is finally sun out!! Hallelujah! Today,I've finally gotten around to swatching and reviewing the final Urban Outfitters holo polish I bought last year. You can view my previous reviews of the green holo and silver holo. If you guys haven't noticed yet, Mir and I have been on holo kick lately. It's safe to say that we are both crazy about holos polishes

Pink Holo is a crazy intense polish with a strong linear holographic effect, even indoors under artificial lighting the holographic flame burns strong. Under no light the polish looks likes a dull pale pink shade. The effect is seen the best when exposed to direct sunlight. I had a little difficultly capturing it's true beauty with my camera. If you don't own any of these yet, I highly recommend them.

Urban Outfitters - Silver Holo

The sun came out to play again this past weekend and it gave me the perfect chance to try out another Urban Outfitter holographic polish. This time I used Silver Holo, an intense silver holographic polish that glowed in the sun and indoors. I can't even begin to describe this beauty, this polish is one of the strongest holo polish I own. It was so distracting because I couldn't stop staring at my nails the entire weekend! Like I mentioned about the Urban Outfitters - Green Holo in my previous post, the formula was a little thick  for my liking and I had to work a bit to get even coverage on the nails. But I promise you the work is totally worth it. I tried to capture the polish as best as I could but these pictures doesn't do justice, definitely a polish you need to see in person!

I used nail envy as a base coat and 2 layers of polish (1 thin, 1 thick) to achieve complete opacity. The polish can be bought in-store at Urban Outfitters or online, each bottle is 15ml and sold for $10. Some girls mentioned that they were able to pick these up as part of the 2/$8 offer. Unfortunately I wasn't that lucky and paid full price but it's definitely worth while to check your store to see if they have these as part of the special. Thanks for reading :)

Urban Outfitters - Green Holo

The weather here was fantastic this weekend, and what better way to show my appreciation for some sun than with a new holographic polish. What I have to share today is one of Urban Outfitters new holo polishes. There are 3 colours in total from the collection, Silver Holo, Green Holo and Pink Holo. In-store the polishes looked nothing special but under the right lighting you will be blown away. As you can see from the pictures below the bottle has a silver cap, it seems like many polishes companies are following this signature when it comes to holographic polishes. As a consumer, I'm a fan. It makes to easier for me to spot HTF polishes and it makes the polish all the more special and distinctive.

I haven't had the opportunity to try out any of the halo hues from Color Club but from swatches I've seen online I would say Green Holo looks like a slightly muted version of Color Club's Angel Kiss. They're both a gorgeous seaform green colour but Green Holo looks just a little less green in comparison. I found the formula of the Urban Outfitters' polish to be a bit goopy and difficult to work with. It took a bit of effort to eliminate all the patchy spots but in the end I think the swatches speak for themselves and all the hard work was worth it. The colour is super holo even indoors with artificial lighting.

I apologize in advance for how super greasy my fingers look but I was so excited to share this amazing polish and my cuticles were horribly dry and unpresentable.

I used 2 layers, 1 thin 1 thick to achieve complete opacity. The polish can be bought in-store at Urban Outfitters or online, each bottle is 15ml and sold for $10.
