L'Oreal Paris: My First Pictorial!

Hey guys! Woohoo it's finally a long weekend here in Canada. Too bad mother nature didn't get the memo, looks like most of the weekend will be rainy. I decided I wanted to do a cheerful and bright manicure to cure me of the gloomy rain. I ended up creating a pictorial for you guys which I hope you'll enjoy. For those of you who do pictorials on a regular basis, hats off to you. This was my first one and I was obsessing over getting the polish to look perfect. Let me know what you think and if Mir and I should post more of these pictorials.

Recently Mir and I received some products from L'Oreal Paris Canada to try out and I decided to do a scalloped nail with a couple colours we received. The first time I tried the scalloped look I was so surprised at how ridiculously easy it was. Nail art has never been my strong point, I love looking at nail art, I like to try nail art but it usually ends up looking like a hot mess. Anyways, I thought I'd try the scalloped look again and create a simple tutorial to share with you all.

All the polishes I used in this mani were from L'Oreal Paris:

Now You Sea Me - A muted robin's egg blue creme polish. Beautiful colour, but difficult to work with. I found the polish to be very sheer and I needed 3 coats to achieve opacity. The polish did dry quite quickly so that makes up for the layers I needed to eliminate patchiness.

Royalty Reinvented -  A serene lilac purple creme polish from their Spring 2013 Trendsetter Collection. Lovely colour, lovely application. I only needed one layer of this product to achieve opacity on top of the base colour. Excellent dry time as well.

Members Only - Another colour from the Spring 2013 Trendsetter Collection, this polish is a lovely vibrant almost neon like fuchsia pink polish. When used alone it could pass as a one coater but because I had on multiple colours it ended up a little sheer and in some pictures you can see Royal Reinvented showing through.

Nabi Hologram Sky Blue and Black

Hello friends! A couple months ago I heard that Nabi was releasing a bunch of holographic nail polishes. I managed to pick up 2 recently and thought I'd share some swatches and thoughts about this collection. This holographic collection consists of 24 different shades, the 2 I'm sharing today are Black and Blue Sky.

When I first saw these polishes in store I was not at all impressed, there was no holo effect at all. In fact I thought they were all duds because they looked metallic to me. I bought 2 just to try and boy am I glad. On the nail they look completely different. The holo effect isn't strong but it's definitely present. I thought the colours were a little washed out. I wished the colour could've been brighter. My camera did a terrible job of really capturing the holo flame and in person they're stronger than in my pictures. I also thought the bottles looked like a total rip off of the Layla holos. Same shape, silver cap, same label design. I don't own any Layla polishes so I'm not able to do a side by side comparison.

Cult Cosmetics Review Part 1: Lychee Glam

Hi friends! I'm finally connected back onto to the internet...my internet has been down since Thursday night and it was beyond frustrating trying to get re-connected.

Today I have a nail kit from Cult Cosmetics to share with you all. Cult Cosmetics, also known as Nasty Nails is an online shop that sells nail polish, nail accessories and nail art kits. I would say their nail kits are the main products of the company. These kits include all the polishes/accessories/tools needed to achieve certain nail art looks. Currently, the site overs over 20 different kits to choose from! These kits are described as "Exclusive Designer Nail art Kits" and contain polishes from brand name companies like OPI, Essie, China Glaze, Seche Vite, Color Club etc.

I should also mention that these kits are very reasonably priced for what you're getting. Kits range from 9.99 to 24.99, all kits come with full sized polishes the number of polishes varies from how simple or complex the design is. So given that Essie and OPI nail polishes around here go for well over $10 in retail stores I would say the value of the kits cannot be beat. The kits come with the polishes bubble wrapped and sealed inside a zip-lock bag. Each kit also comes with an awesome Cult Cosmetics sticker. We were sent 2 kits to review, the Lychee Glam kit and the Inspired by: Beyonce Kit.

Indie Spotlight: LynBDesigns

Hey everyone! Today I have another awesome indie brand I'm dying to share with you guys. Now being from Canada I usually feel pretty left out when it comes to indies. Either the shipping is outrageous or the polish is never consistently in-stock. But fear not, LynBDesigns offers a huge range of polishes that are always in-stock, very fairly priced and won't charge an arm and a leg for shipping. Based out of Michigan, Jenna creates incredibly creative polishes inspired by various movies, books, TV shows etc. Her shop also sells perfumes, lip balms, cuticle oils and some jewelry items.

For Canadian/International orders Jenna does ask that you email her directly about purchases so that she can create a custom listing for you. I found that Jenna answered my emails very quickly and was a pleasure to communicate with. I was so pleased with the polishes I received!
