Indie Spotlight: LynBDesgins Part 2

Hello again friends! It feels like ages since I've posted...work has been stressing me out lately and I haven't had time to really sit down and write. But don't worry I'm trying my best to get out of this slump because I have a lot of great stuff to share with you all in the near future.

Awhile back I reviewed a few of LynBDesigns polishes (post can be read here). Since then, Jenna has had some more awesome sales and Mir and I couldn't help ourselves to purchasing a few goodies.

Oobleck
Oobleck is from the "Many Colors of Suess" collection and is so awesome when you look at it in the bottle. It's this bright pale green with green micro shimmer. In the sun it is simply beautiful! In my swatch I used OPI Gargantuan Green Grape as my base colour as oobleck is on the sheer side. The formula was really great and the colour translated very well onto the nail. I believe I used two layers of Oobleck.

Let's Get Mawwied
Lets Get Mawwied is from the "Dweam Wiffim A Dweam" collection and has mutlti coloured pastel glitters in a white base. I was a little disappointed with this one, I found the polish to be very gloppy and difficult to apply. Even with the help of polish thinner I had to do three layers to rid of the bald patches. In the bottle the polish looked really cute and I was drawn in by the mix of the pastel glitters. It does take a bit of effort to apply but definitely worth it.

FACE Stockholm - Nail Polish in 78 & 135

*some pictures were taken quite a while ago and some were recent, hope that explains some of the differences in how I show off the products

I know when I say this someone will want to strangle me but yay it's almost autumn!! This is a time when I usually like to wear darker shimmery shades or what you can call more 'vampy'.  The two colours that I am going to show you totally fit!

They go on like butter, smooth and pigmented! Two coats and it's perfection. I do get a bit of wear around the 3rd-4th day but usually by then I have the urge to change colours anyway! One thing I don't like is that there's no names, only numbers ho-hum.

#78 is an amazing dark shade of velvety purple with a hint of brown and plum. Now when I say brown it's not like it can be classified under that but instead it has a flash shimmer of golden speckles which makes this quite a unique colour.
I used 1 coat of Essie Grow Faster and 2 Coats of #78 and 1 coat of China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat.

excuse my ring finger haha! I had a tragedy.

#135 is a gorgeous forest emerald green. It is a shimmer colour so there is a bit of streakiness to it, but it's barely there. It goes on smooth and opaque in two coats. I have to say sorry, I took these pictures before when I had some weird dent in my nail and I feel it's all up in my face! But anyway...
I used 1 coat of Essie Grow Faster and 2 Coats of #135 and no topcoat if I remember correctly. It looks like I didn't really do a great job cleaning up either oopsies!! Before my cuticles were always bothering the heck out of me and greens/blues are the hardest to clean up so I think I just left a glorious mess for all to see.. my bad!

All in all, FACE Stockholm has some great polishes. I definitely will be looking to purchase a few more. On the plus side.. they are not that pricey at all.. only $12 for 0.5 fl oz / 15 ml ! :D

You can check out their selection here!! They have over 100 colours and finishes to choose from!

oh one thing as I know it bothers a few of my friends.. their regular polish bottles are rectangular but their holographic ones are round!!!

Until next time,

VIB Rouge Starter Kit

Hiii!!

Having to admit I spent $1000 already in this year..is it even something I should announce ahaha..?
What did I even buy?? I became a member of VIB Rouge. Sephora's newest and highest status aka screaming at everyone that I am a beauty junkie and probably spend too much (is that even possible?) at Sephora!! haah.. but yes I am and I've spent well over that amount, probably don't even want to disclose this lol...

but anyway you can trade in your silver card for a spanking new red one.
Your card comes in this fancy black box sleeve.

and when you slide it open, there's an info card welcoming you "to the top".

Lift that open and you see your contents, a card and a lipstick.

This awesome VIB Rouge package sadly does not include a 10% off card but includes a mini Bite lipstick in a Sephora exclusive red. It's pretty dark and I shockingly have to say I like it!..
Bite goes on really smooth and pigmented, I want to try on other colours before raving lol.

Other benefits include:

  • MY FAVOURITE : Free shipping on all orders online WOOT WOOT!!!!!
  • Surprise gifts (We'll see about that...)
  • Full unlimited access to the beauty studio.. I never really use this but they do have a new IQ foundation matcher demo going on which I might try out!
  • Exclusive events
  • & all the other benefits you get from being a VIB aka free samples, exclusive offers and bday presents.
Honestly, I'm just excited for free shipping without having to hit a minimum! Usually I never see free samples or local events so.... we'll see..

Are you a VIB Rouge yet? Don't think it's as hard as it is to obtain as you think..$1000 easily flies out of your pocket at Sephora ahahah!!!!

Status automatically gets updated, you can pick it up at a store or it should pop up online during check out.

ps. there were the special 5000 / 10000 point perks but I won't talk about those since it's over and it caused me heart break.. because if I knew (since I asked a million times before) I wouldn't have spent sooo many of my points on the other packages :( and I didn't really use those items either sad!!!!!

Until next time,

Mir

Butter LONDON - All Hail The Queen

Today's post is super exciting to me.. because I get to share with you...

*suspense*

MY FAVOURITE POLISH OF ALL TIME.
(I'm already on my 2nd bottle and I have one for back up. ^_^)

As you can tell from the post name, it's butter LONDON's All Hail The Queen!!!!

Now if you know me, there are tons of times when I probably exclaim how much I love a polish or super excited about a new release etc but time and time again.. I ALWAYS think about this one. (Is anyone else humming Always On My Mind?? ahaha no? okay just me!)
I am pretty sure I even once told butter LONDON Canada that if there was a zombie apocalypse, I'd bring this one with me.. yes this is what I think about during the commercials between Walking Dead..don't judge me!! haha.

removable cap!!

awesome brush!

I mean, who wouldn't... it's a perfect colour for any occasion.. job interviews (which I wear to every one; and that's why I have it on at the moment haha..), drinks with the girls, a drive to Starbucks, late night movie, tea time, when I feel like I don't know what to wear, meeting The Queen?? fighting zombies?? yeah any of those haha..feel free to add more.
Where would you wear this colour to?

I'm really happy this shade matches my skintone so well. If it doesn't for you, I also recommend trying out other shades butter LONDON offers (they have a ton!!). They did have a neutral collection out before called Starkers but they're LE and D/Ced by now.
All swatches are 1 coat Essie Grow Faster, 2 coats butter LONDON All Hail The Queen and 1 coat China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat.
All Taken in natural light

I feel my nails look a lot nicer when I wear it - more elongated, neat and clean! The subtle shimmer/holographic effect doesn't make this shade look dull and totally distracts me while I am writing this post!

It goes on silky smooth and opaque in just two thin layers!! I have great wear time with butter LONDONs, minimal tipwear in 4 days!! I would probably wear this forever (another plus on why I should have this in my zombie survival kit ;) )

Okay wow I rambled a lot but how could I stop? hehe..

Butter London: All Hail The Queen
3 Free Nail Lacquer - free of formaldehyde, toluene and DBP.
11ml / 0.4 fl oz
* Removable Cap.
A lovely opaque holographic beige AND at the right angle, there's a crazy pink flash shimmer. The flash shimmer is not really noticeable on the nail though (good for me ahha)...

It is a tad expensive priced at 17.50$CAD at Sephora, The Bay, Holt Renfrew etc but it's totally worth it :)!!!

Check out their Canadian site here
or follow them on Facebook (Canadian) here.

FACE Stockholm - Friendship Veil Lipstick

This will be the beginning of a few posts featuring FACE Stockholm :).
I am going to start off by saying.. I am totally biased! I absolutely love love love their products!
Thanks to Wantable & FACE Stockholm, I have quite a few of their products, all tried and all loved!! <3

You may remember a while ago, I wrote a post about their holographic polish - Thea! If not check it out here: Click here to check out THEA :D

Today we have one of their Veil Lipsticks In Friendship Veil. Veil lipsticks  is one of their more subtle formulas giving a 'sheer wash of moisturizing colour'. Even so, I think it provides good colour coverage. On their website, the swatch seemed a bit more coral but it's definitely more red like my swatches.

Depending on how heavy your application or if you do the blotting technique you can get your desired coverage. First picture, left we have 1 normal swipe of the lipstick, on the right we have 2 swipes of the lipstick.

Below, on the left of the hand it has a total of 3 swipes, as you can see it's still a bit sheer but has a rich watermelony pink/red colour! On the right is a faint blot of the lipstick. This will give you really light coverage, which I think is good for anyone since it only 'reddens' your lips ever so slightly! That is my choice on how to apply it since my bottom lip is pinker than my top.

Have you tried any FACE Stockholm items yet??
I can't wait to share with you other ones!!

Size: 3.4 g / 0.12oz (on packaging) - 4.2g / 0.14oz (on website)
Price: $22

I linked their website above but if you want to check out their Facebook you can click here.

Until next time,

Nail Art: Marble Dots

Hi Everyone,

something random today hehe.. I don't know what this is really so I called it marble dots!

Now I've always wanted to try marbling but I hate the clean up because usually when I am doing my nails, it's about 3 am in the morning :P.

I saw on ASK Cosmetic's Facebook page a blogger's photo of a ombre dotticure which used 2 shades of a colour (ie. navy and sky blue).
I picked up China Glaze - Aquadelic and American Apparel - Malibu Green. Ignoring the discolouration of AA they have a bigger difference in shade but my camera couldn't pick it up!

I thought that was neat so I wanted to attempt it!

Materials needed:

  • Base colour
  • Two colours you want to 'swirl' together any combination can be done!!!
  • Dotter tool
  • Scrap paper or art palette (anything to hold your polish droplets)

First I painted my base colour which is Essie - Blanc. Pretty much my go to white at the moment. Just look how amazing it looks in the picture underneath!

I did my usual droplets on paper but accidentally it was too close and they stuck together. Then the idea popped up... let's swirl it!!

So after swirling a bit, I redipped my dotter tool and made dots on the nails.. and viola.. marble nails!

I need to practice a bit more so the dots don't turn out like huge globs but how do you like them? :)

What other colours would you mix together?

Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Collection Swatches

Hi everyone! WooHoo! TGIF! I'm definitely ready for the weekend to start. Work has really worn me out this entire week, am I the only one who just wants to veg out when they come home? Anyways, I'm back with swatches from the entire Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat collection! It took a bit longer than I anticipated, but I finally had time to post about this awesome collection.

As I mentioned in my press release post, this collection is pretty similar to the Nails Inc Feathered Collection and the new China Glaze On the Horizon collection, pretty much dupes I would say. All the polishes come in a clear base with different shades of very fine bar glitter.

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Nail Art (Roses)

After my nail art attempts in the other post - link here, I watched a video shown on Catrice's website on how to do a floral design. Then I thought why not use Sugar Coats to do '3D-ish' flowers??!

It was pretty fun but as a tip, after every "C" shape, redip your brush into the polish to pick up the 'sugar' particles or it won't be gritty enough!

Materials needed:
  • Base polish colour - I did 3 colours to show how the design would work on different colours
  • Sally Hansen Sugar Coat's Cherry Drop
  • Sally Hansen Sugar Coat's Cotton Candies
  • Sally Hansen Sugar Coat's Sweetie
  • Sally Hansen Sugar Coat's Sour Apple
  • Little dish with acetone / nail polish remover
  • Cotton Pad
  • Scrap Paper
  • Thin Paint Brush
